Republicans Reading the Pelosi Health Care Bill
Posted by on November 03, 2009
Today I'm joining fellow Republicans to continue reading Nancy Pelosi's health care bill.  Reading will take place from 2 - 6pm today, and I will be reading from 2 - 230pm.  You can watch a live webcast at http://health.burgess.house.gov/webcast/

As I read through the bill,  I continue to find amazing and dangerous facts the Majority Party is trying to rush through.  You can read the text of the bill here.

I'm sure it is a daunting job trying to figure out the best possible outcome for all Americans with each bill you read and vote on while you serve in the House. You are in my prayers as well as the prayers of my church, St. Mark United Methodist, Pensacola, FL. We all have hopes and dreams of a renewed and strengthened economy, government and now we face the Health Care bill that you are reading today in order to prepare your thoughts when you go vote. I am planning on retiring in two years. I have worked for Lakeview Center, Inc. for 18 years and they have provided me with excellent benefits. Each time I hear or read more information regarding this Health Care bill, I cannot help but pray harder than ever that when the deed is done and the dirt settles, that all Americans will find themselves on the best side of health insurance. I'm sure we will not all agree that it is the best. You just can't please everyone with everything. However, there are far too many Americans that don't have anything that will welcome the slightest improvement to their lives. My prayer for you is that God will cleanse your mind and heart and give you knowledge, clear and concise information on all nuances of the bill, arm you with vigor, strength, and understanding, with a clear vision of how you should vote for yourself, your Florida voters, and the United States of America. We will all have to live with the outcome of this important vote.

I agree that Nancy Pelosi goes beyond "liberal" directly to "nuts". But, we do need to control health costs, we need universal health care and nobody who is in American legally should do without medical care. My husband and I are on a pension and have to pay over $1200. per month in insurance premiums....and some of my medical needs aren't paid because they were "pre-existing conditions." WE have no drug coverage. My husband is very healthy and takes care of himself. But, because he was diagnosed diabetic...only 1 policy is available in Florida for him...at a cost of over $850.00 per month. Laws should protect those of us who worked hard all our lives, followed the rules and are now being damaged and mistreated because of greedy insurance companies and skyrocketing medical costs. Universal insurance should certainly be available for everyone. I have been unwilling to lie about preexisting conditions...so I'm paying the price for my honesty. It doesn't have to be the way it is. Each party needs to compromise and do what is best for the people who have actually earned income and paid taxes to keep you guys well paid and well insured. If you don't, you ought to be ashamed of yourself.

Please vote "NO". I'm paying for enough government in my life already. Thanks for the great job you do representing this area.

I, along with many Americans, am tired, if not scared, by the current administration's (and Democratic leadership’s) usurping of the citizens’ liberty. With every additional tax, handout, and decision they make "for our own good," while they spend us into poverty, we continue down the road to socialism, if not fascism. This is a wanton destruction of the fabric of our nation in pure disregard of the Constitution. I implore you to vehemently oppose this bill and any subsequent legislation that haphazardly wastes finite taxpayers’ resources and purloins the liberty and freedoms of the good people of Florida.

Please vote against Pelosi's health care bill. America cannot afford or needs this mess! We will support true reform but not from a bunch of liberal nuts!!! Thanks

    Please vote "No."

Please vote "no" on HR 3962. There ARE alternatives! REMOVE rules rather than CREATE rules.

I have read part of hr 3962. It has been purposely written to confuse and mislead most who read it. It has the potential to wipe out small businesses who do not comply with government mandates. What portion of the constitition does Pelosi and the rest of the liberal idiots in Washington think give them the power do this anyway. I believe in healthcare reform that is affordable for all, but this is government abuse of power at its best. Please vote NO!

I am really upset that pelosi is not letting the health care bill be posted for everyone to read. I feel that she would not support anything that she didn't read and feel comfortable with. I wish you to oppose any further voting in this bill until she changes her attitude.

I am for TORT reform and legislation that protects Americans with pre-existing conditions from being denied coverage and incentives for employers to offer health care coverage. I am for looking into ways to lower costs and for Americans who do not have coverage to be able to purchase their own in a more competitive market. There are a lot of things that I am for but I believe that you are in way too deep trying to develop your own health care plan as the Fed Gov't. I want you to review these bigger issues and stay out of the business of running actual health care.
